Hydrothermal Alteration Zones’ Magnetic Susceptibility Footprints and 3D Model of Iron Oxide-Copper-Gold (IOCG) Mineralization, Carajás Mineral Province, Brazil

Brownfield areas are important targets of exploration; however, the extensive drilling present in these has not fully exploited their prospective potential. The appropriate use drill hole cores can play an role deep exploration. We a case study iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) Furnas Southeast deposit, located Carajás Mineral Province, Brazil. This deposit disseminated chalcopyrite, bornite and gold mineralization associated with silicic (Si), potassic (K), calcic (Na), sodic-calcic (Na-Ca) hydrothermal alteration, intense metasomatism massive magnetite (Fe) alteration. Petrophysical hand-held equipment measurements were carried out on core samples purpose studying potential roles that magnetic susceptibility properties high-grade mineralization. results indicate geological complexity IOCG is readily reflected variation measurements. statistical analysis shows how detailed characterization this physical property for mineral association could effectively define describe ore, footprints alteration zones. Furthermore, we able to perform 3D modeling diamagnetic, paramagnetic, ferrimagnetic responses strictly correlated known orebody. Thus, petrophysical analyses form quantitative criterion ore delineation.
